How your Spirit Unlocks the Vital Aspects of Business
Managing Spiritual Energy
The life of a business professional is optimized when we become good at managing our energy. Those who are intentional about the health of their body, emotions and Spirit have an advantage in the workplace. Good managers of their energy tend to have better relationships, more creative solutions and are enjoyable to work with. Having something to give is a great posture for successful business.
A Full Tank
Consider your energy like a tank that is filled and depleted regularly. When the tank is “full” we have something to give. Physically we get rest, eat well and train for strength giving us a well to draw from. Emotionally, we find activities that refresh us, spend time with good friends and nurture our soul. When we consider managing our spirit, the strength, health and rest we need is not something we generate ourselves. We can however, put ourselves in a position to be filled. The bible often talks about being “filled with the Spirit.” This is when we align our lives to be strengthened by the Spirit of God.
When you are filled with the spirit you have better people skills, your discipline and self-government are enhanced, and we lead with greater integrity. Look at this verse from Galatians:
But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
Galatians 5:22 MSG
There are many benefits to being filled with the Spirit of God, many are useful in our calling as business leaders. The gift of discernment is a great advantage when brokering deals or contractually connecting with someone. Wisdom is invaluable, and a core of good decision making. Integrity and having a good reputation goes to work as your business development manager. The gift of rest and peace allows you to sleep in the middle of a storm.
Positioned for Greatness
When we create space and time for God to move in our lives, he is faithful to do so. It means that we are not limited to natural solutions or resources but the higher level of Supernatural access. This idea has changed my life. It is why I wrote “Supernatural Business.” It is also why I prioritize time to get ‘filled up’ in my Spirit. Some of the practices I am committed to are prayer, worship and daily bible reading. Prayer is a two way street, It is when I bring the limitations of life before God, I express thankfulness at what God has done and is doing in my life. I take time to listen for God’s leading and response. This is particularly effective when I combine it with reading the Bible. It is amazing how often the part I am reading gives me clarity on how to act or decide on a matter. Worship is not simply listening to songs, it is the intention to recognize God above every other priority in life. I do also have worship playing in my office 24/7. It helps to set an atmosphere that recognizes God’s presence in my life and allows me to stay positioned to be a conduit of God’s goodness to others.
