Nuggets from the 2024 Increase Conference - Seeds for Growth
At the beginning of each year, I don’t have every day planned out and my schedule isn’t full, however there are a few days that I know how to account for. Janet and I both prioritize a conference that has been a big part of our life, development and business. Each year my mentor Bob Harrison hosts the “Increase Conference” and it has become one of the most significant commitments in our lives producing great results in our thinking, approach and network. One of the signature ways Bob shares leadership insights is through what he calls “nuggets.” This week we attended the 2024 conference, and I would like to share five of the nuggets I am taking away from our time there.
Nugget #1 – Gods warning is as valuable as Gods leading. So often we pray that God would lead us into the next season, deal or project. However, life changing decisions can be made by heeding God’s warning. Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. Mary and Joseph also changed their direction and went to Egypt to avoid the danger that Herod posed to them. The value of a “No” from God in prayer is just as valuable as a “yes.”
Nugget #2 - Planned neglect – Planned neglect is a practice that develops a high level of focus. It is a way to prioritize something far above all other things. The mindset of planned neglect is “I have learned to neglect everything that I want to do until I have done what I need to do.” The tension of doing what we need to do before what we want to do is a real one. Planned neglect and delayed gratification are high level leadership skills.
Nugget #3 –
Of the 40 miracles in the book of Acts, 39 of those miracles occur in the marketplace. I am convinced that God moves in our jobs and workplaces. Miracles are not only reserved for church buildings. I believe in Supernatural Business. My faith in God is not reserved for a church service. Most of my life is lived outside of that building but I have an expectation for God to move everywhere I spend my time.
Nugget #4 - All problems really are wisdom problems. We can be tempted to think we have a staffing problem or a financial problem, however wisdom provides the solutions to all the problems that we face. Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. We should pursue wisdom to be prepared for every eventuality. The book of proverbs is a powerful resource for wisdom. The more time you spend meditating on that book of the bible, the more wisdom becomes a part of your thinking.
Nugget #5 -If you want an extraordinary life, make extraordinary agreements and keep them. Our life is full of agreements; promises, contracts, subscriptions etc. What is your commitment to those agreements? Do you see some as more important or less important and where did you get that thinking from? Our belief system makes our decisions for us.
