2 Anchors You Need for Stability During Transition
Don’t change these 2 things when going through transition.
When we go through seasons of transition many things are subject to change. Our relationships, job, location and security. This can be disorienting, so having strong anchors through the process helps us to maintain stability. John 15 talks to seasons of pruning and fruitfulness and how God anchors us through them:
“2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”
John 15:2-4 NLT
The first anchor: Stay Connected.
These verses refer to the life-giving connection we have when we remain in God. This is the key to Supernatural Business and a supernatural life. If you are in business for any amount of time, sooner or later you will experience a pruning moment. It’s not something we look forward to but undoubtedly there will be times when relationships will end, clients may leave, planned successes turned to failure. In those moments, where do you draw life from? How do you find vision or wisdom to move forward? My faith in God has always been the source of my success. Particularly prioritizing time in prayer and reading the bible has stabilized me in challenging seasons.
The second anchor: Stay Humble.
Humility can sometimes be viewed in the workplace as weakness or misunderstood as frailty. However, the biblical understanding of humility allows God’s power to move through your life, crucial in times of trial. Humility is essentially being God dependent. This contrasts with being self-dependent, which can lead to pride. The idea that you don’t need God or others is false. Pride is an attitude that is not well suited to seasons of change and transition, in fact it can make things more complicated. Pride will often reduce your flexibility in seasons that require it, it will put a strain on relationships that you need and create a burden you were not meant to carry.
“But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
James 4:6 ESV
Grace is a divine enablement. That means you get God’s help. The workplace is somewhere that we all need God’s help. He will help you in decision making, managing people and weathering storms. He will give you vision, create opportunities and protect you. All these incredible promises are released in part simply by embracing humility. When we allow God into our workplace, he will carry the burdens, provide rest and lead us in His will.
