Putting Weight on the Bar
What are you doing in your business that requires faith? More specifically, requires faith in God. I am convinced that the only way I want to live is by growing a supernatural business. People often ask me what I mean by that term, let me explain:
“…in Supernatural Business, you depend on God. It’s not that you don’t work hard; it’s that you’re not reliant on yourself and your abilities for your ultimate success. You rely on God. As we pray, God often shows us or tells us what to do. And when you give your business to God, you plug into His economy, which never downturns, is never in the red, and is always life giving!”
Excerpt from Supernatural Business by Mike Rovner
This has been the story of my life and God has been faithful to meet me in that intersection of my own ability and the things that are far beyond my talents or wisdom. This approach has required me to live in the space of being God reliant, as a result I can take little credit for the success of our company. My role has been to operate in wisdom, obedience and faith. When we look to God in faith it makes him happy.
You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him.
Hebrews 11:6 TLB
Put Weight on the Bar
It is easy to do things within your own ability without involving God in them, just like it is easy to lift a bar that has no weight on it. Putting a demand on your muscles allows them to grow, the same is true when it comes to faith. In terms of your business, what weight do you have on the bar? Where do you need God to come through for you?
If this is a new concept for you, you can apply some of the same principles you would use if you were lifting a weight. Start smaller and then build up your faith. Develop a healthy routine of prayer and listening. If you are going to put a significant weight on the bar, firstly do so prayerfully. Secondly, it would be wise to get a spotter, someone that will stand with you and bear the weight alongside of you. This way you won’t get crushed. I have a close circle of spotters that pray for our company.
Practically some of the weight that I have put on the bar for our company was agreeing to contracts that I had never done before. Contracts that required us to grow and expand beyond our experience and ability. We needed to rely of God to help us complete those projects. God faithfully brought new people and relationships to help us, gave us wisdom to solve problems we had never encountered before and gave us favor to finish projects on time and under budget.
In the area of ministry, I intentionally try to set aside one day to give my best efforts, assistance and prayer to help other businesses and churches. Thrive Teaching has been a product of faith and trusting God to create space, insight and resources to further the kingdom of God through my lifer and businesses.
What are you depending on God for in your life? How are you God reliant in your day to day on Him. What weight do you currently have on the bar? This has been the key to Supernatural Business and the life that accompanies it. God is faithful and loves to meet us at that beautiful point where we end, and He takes over.
