Life Beyond the Comfort Zone. A Place To Grow
Life Beyond the Comfort Zone.
The benefit of knowing your limit is two-fold. One reason is to protect yourself and the second is so you can push it. The point of most significant growth in my life has come in that uncomfortable area of life that really pushed me to my limit. You cannot sustain life beyond the comfort zone. Living in a state of being dangerously over challenged leads to damage or burnout. However, there is a benefit to intentionally pushing beyond your comfort levels to grow your capacity from time to time. This must be followed by rest or recovery to get the benefit of the push.
Pushing your limits, both physically and mentally, can lead to significant personal growth and well-being. It fosters resilience, builds mental toughness, and increases self-confidence. By consistently challenging yourself, you can expand your comfort zone, improve your ability to handle stress, and unlock your full potential. The motivation for expanding my comfort zone comes from understanding that the call of God on my life is bigger than my current capacity. It stems from the God given purpose I believe in.
Supernatural Business
Spiritually, there is also place of empowerment that is activated when we reach the end of ourselves. This is foundational if we want to experience Supernatural Business. Supernatural business is a partnership that requires that I steward the God-given talents I have received, endeavor to grow them and submit them back to God. God in turn moves supernaturally growing and directing those gifts to grow His kingdom. This is a pattern that can be seem in the parable of the talents found in Matthew, chapter 25 in the Bible.
Paul also shows us how God empowers us at the point we feel like we are in over our heads:
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
This may feel like a scripture that belongs in church, but it has consistently been a part of my business journey. There have been many times when living beyond the comfort zone was an act of faith. The scope of the job was beyond my capacity, and it took a push of effort and faith to accomplish it. The growth of my company has often followed this pattern.
Living in this area beyond the comfort zone can feel precarious until your capacity catches up. This tension of faith is not something to avoid but instead, it is the perfect scenario to involve God in. What area of life do you need to grow your capacity? Is it in thinking or perhaps your physical health? What does moving out of your comfort zone look like? If this is a new idea for you, I suggest two things for you; 1) I highly encourage you run it past a mentor or leader that can help you make the decision. 2) Spend time in prayer to get the peace you need from God before you move forward in this.
