Discover the Hidden Power of Progress. Getting Unstuck.

Progress is defined as the process of gradually improving or getting nearer to achieving a goal. Life can be measured by progress, whether it be in business, health or our relationships. Success in any area is found because of consistent progress. At the start of the journey the end destination can seem far off, but breaking the journey down into steps can be a great way to tackle the challenge. When the vision or the plan seems daunting, taking the next right step is usually a lot more manageable. It takes something that might seem out of reach due to scope or complexity and makes it become a reality.

“People often overestimate what they can accomplish in one year. But they greatly underestimate what they could accomplish in five years.”

― Peter Drucker

This quote encourages a more balanced approach to goal setting, urging us to be more realistic about short-term achievements while recognizing the power of sustained effort and long-term vision. It changes our perspective of progress and redefines the expectations of success. It challenges the discouragement of not being where you want to be right now and exchanges it for a mentality of hope that will help you arrive at your vision.

Progress Compounds

The power of compound interest in the financial realm is something that is widely recognized. However, the same compounding power works in progress too. Small, consistent actions over time can lead to significant results. This is the principle of compounding, where gains build upon previous gains. As you concentrate on daily progress, the vision becomes a reality, the goal is achieved, and the destination is reached- progress compounds.

This principle is a great motivator to work hard on the small things, knowing that big accomplishments take time. This is in stark contrast with many of the business podcasts and “gurus” that claim if you just “do these three things” you will become an overnight success. They are popular because the idea is so attractive, but the reality is that there are very few get rich strategies or principles. Most “overnight successes” are a result of years of sacrifice, consistency and resilience. Proverbs 13:11 says, "Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it."

Trust in the process, certain sacrifices may appear to have little to no impact today, but over time they compound to deliver meaningful results. The tools of patience and resilience that are reinforced by prayer become the engine room for meaningful progress. As I look back to see where I started in business, I am overwhelmed at how much progress we have seen. However not every day was easy, not every day felt like a game changer. But we have been committed to consistently move forward, trust God and get better at everything we do. Sometimes we had to learn a new skill, create a new method or be stretched in another way and progress could feel slow but trusting the process has allowed us to grow at a sustainable rate.
