Success Brings New Responsibility, Are You Prepared?

From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

Luke 12:48 (NIV)Tweet

Greater Success means Greater Responsibility –

Success, that elusive yet desirable state, is often seen as the culmination of hard work, perseverance, and talent. However, many overlook the responsibilities that come hand-in-hand with success. With every achievement, new obligations emerge demanding attention, integrity, and stewardship.  Success can be a double-edged sword, as with it comes increased scrutiny, pressure, and sometimes even envy.

The pressure to look the part, move into the right neighborhood, and drive the right car may seem superficial but a pressure that can feel overwhelming and can create tension in the inner part of us to maintain these outward standards. Einstein famously said, "Try not to become a man of success. Rather become a man of value." Success without integrity or humility is hollow and fleeting.

The Responsibility to Grow.

Success is not the final stop in life. It is just the start of a new one. Have you ever considered what the purpose of your new platform might be?

“It's easy to become comfortable or overconfident after achieving success, but it's important to remain humble and continue to push oneself to grow and improve.  Bill Gates

How will you grow and use your success to achieve a new level of purpose and meaningfulness? Have a plan for this new season.

The Responsibility to Give

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."   Winston Churchill

If success is a platform, how will you use it? Could it be as a mentor, philanthropist, or simply leading by example, successful people have an opportunity to inspire those around them.  Does your platform allow you to advocate for those less fortunate than you? Does your support for a cause allow it to flourish or reach a broader audience?

The Responsibility to Guard

As your business grows it also becomes a bigger target.  Success makes you more exposed.  Small mistakes have bigger consequences. Become wise in how you conduct your affairs. Be aware of bad agents and walk with integrity. Guard yourself against naivety when dealing with people. Prayer has always been the foundation of my strategy to guard and steward what the Lord has given me.

While success is undoubtedly a worthy pursuit, it comes with a host of new responsibilities. From maintaining one's achieved status to inspiring others, giving back to society, and leading with integrity, successful individuals have a duty to uphold. However, these responsibilities are not burdens but rather opportunities to make a positive impact on the world.

"It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it." Success, when wielded (put to use) responsibly, has the power to change lives and shape the future for the better.”
